Do it Best Group has chosen Paycor as its first preferred payroll and workforce-management provider for its members and True Value retailers, establishing the cooperative’s first centralized payroll solution for independent store owners. This initiative represents a significant step toward consolidating administrative services for small business operators.
The program will debut during the 2026 Do it Best and True Value Fall Market in Indianapolis, where retailers can enroll directly. Paycor staff will be available throughout the event to showcase the platform’s capabilities, address specific operational needs, and assist with service package customization. The cooperative emphasizes that the solution is designed to adapt to varying business sizes and requirements.
Retailers participating in the program will benefit from discounted Paycor rates, with final costs determined by factors such as employee headcount and selected service modules. This arrangement extends an existing collaboration between Do it Best Group and Paycor, which previously supported recruiting and human capital management efforts for the cooperative’s network.
Paycor’s platform includes automated payroll processing, unified login systems, and mobile applications that enable managers to approve time-off requests and manage administrative tasks directly from smartphones or tablets. Additional features comprise an employee recognition tool, AI-assisted onboarding workflows, compliance databases covering federal, state, and local regulations, and an automated employee handbook generator.

Mobile functionality is particularly valuable for managers working in high-traffic environments like sales floors or lumberyards, as it eliminates the need to relocate to office spaces for routine approvals. The AI-driven onboarding system provides real-time answers to common hiring questions, while the compliance module ensures businesses remain current with evolving labor laws. Retailers can select individual services rather than committing to a full package, with pricing scaled according to their operational scale.
The cooperative asserts that its collective purchasing power allows independent retailers to access advanced technology solutions they might otherwise struggle to obtain independently. This initiative aligns with Do it Best Group’s broader strategy of equipping small business owners with tools to streamline operations and reduce administrative burdens.
This development follows Do it Best Group’s 2024 acquisition of True Value and the establishment of programs such as the Retail Innovation Lab and the Dallas Tech Center. The new partnership shows the cooperative’s commitment to delivering technology-driven business services specifically tailored to the needs of independent retailers.
